Gold Rush: HK Casino Resort unveils ‘Guilded’ new hotel for 2025

Macau’s flagship casino resort will add a ninth luxury hotel to its 550,000 square-metre site next year, it has been revealed

The Capella at Galaxy Macau is described as a 17-storey “gilded mansion” that will boast 36 ‘Sky Villas’ and 57 suites.

The “opulent” villas will have private balconies with infinity-edge pools, outdoor lounges, sunrooms, and hidden winter gardens, in addition to karaoke rooms, and cocktail bars.

And the suites will feature private plunge pools with panoramic views over Macau.

Designed by the Paris-based firm Moinard Bētaille, their plush interiors are said to be inspired by the jungle and the region’s “lush green hills”.

When it opens in 2025, The Capella at Galaxy Macau will become the ninth hotel at the multi-billion-dollar Galaxy Macau resort alongside Banyan Tree Macau, Galaxy Hotel, Hotel Okura Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, The Ritz-Carlton, Raffles at Galaxy Macau, Andaz Macau and Broadway Hotel.

Francis Lui, the vice chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), which operates the resort, said the latest collaboration with Capella Hotels and Resorts will deliver “unparalleled experiential luxury”.

He added: “We are thrilled to create this magnificent embodiment of ultra-luxury 21st-century hospitality in partnership with Capella Hotels and Resorts.

“As the newest addition to our integrated luxury destination, Capella at Galaxy Macau represents our continued commitment to delivering unparalleled experiential luxury to our international guests in Macau.”

According to Galaxy Entertainment Group, the new five-star hotel will feature a members-only lounge called ‘Pony & Plume’, and a polo-inspired bar stocked with rare and limited-edition whiskies.

It will also house an art gallery, an all-day dining restaurant, and a fine-dining fusion restaurant with Michelin-starred chef Vicky Cheng at the helm.

Cheng said: “I’m thrilled to showcase the distinctive ingredients and rich heritage of the Pearl River Delta in my fresh and independent concept at Capella Galaxy Macau.

“I look forward to presenting my refined, innovative take on French-meets-Chinese flavors and techniques with an experimental twist at the first outpost to bring my signature fine-dining concept onto international turf.”

Macau Galaxy, which has its own 150-metre-long white sand beach, is home to the world’s longest Skytop Adventure Rapids and the world’s largest Skytop Wave Pool.
