In 2023, around 9% of all overnight stays in Vienna was in the area of congresses, meetings and incentives.
The Vienna Convention Bureau has been keeping statistics since 1991 in order to:
- measure the economic significance, business development and marketing activities
- know what is going on in the region
- be comparable with other tourist segments
- be able to present better economic arguments when creating new infrastructure
- create an awareness for the economic significance and the importance of the meeting and incentive industry
- increase the acceptance of the business segment
- lobby and promote the meeting destination Vienna
- document the abilities of the meeting industry in Vienna
